Subluxation:
- A minor misalignment of the segment of the spine "vertebra" causing an irritation to a nerve with a loss of normal function.
- An interruption of communication from the brain to any cell tissue or organ in the body.
Subluxations are caused by any stress (physical, mental or chemical) a person cannot adapt to. They can result in the organ, tissue, muscles, etc. losing their normal function and cause a lowered resistance to disease.
Like the strings controlling a puppet, your brain and nervous system control the function of every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. Almost all everyday movements can cause the bones of the spinal column to lose their normal range of motion or position. This sets off a chain reaction resulting in degenerative changes throughout the body. Doctors refer to this as the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. This Complex explains why it takes time to resore optimum health. The Vertebral Subluxation Complex is the underlying cause of many health problems and is recognized by its five component parts:
- Spinal Kinesiopathology (stiffening of joints, abnormal motion or position of spinal bones)
- Neuropathophysiology (loss of control, abnormal nervous system function)
- Myopathology (spasm, abnormal muscle function)
- Histopathology (swelling, abnormal soft tissue function)
- Pathophysiology (disease, abnormal function of the spine and body)
